These are the possible reasons that this transaction was rejected. If a transaction is rejected for more than one reason, the reject codes will appear in priority order. Up to seven codes can be printed in this position.

A verifiable reject indicates that the information originally provided is questionable but could be correct. The information must be corrected or the original value must be confirmed before an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) can be calculated.

A non-verifiable reject indicates that the information originally provided must be corrected before an EFC can be calculated.

The ISIR codes and their meanings are as follows (codes identified with an asterisk [*] are the same as the Reject Override Codes):

*A Date of Birth year equals 1900-1943
*B Independent student, whose age on September 1 will be 16 or less, and DOB is not equal to or greater than current year
*C Taxes paid greater than zero, and greater than or equal to 40% of AGI, but not equal to or greater than AGI (parent, independent student)
D Student’s SSN matched, but not Name
E Parent 1 (Father's/Mother's/Stepparent's) SSN matched, but not Name
F Parent 2 (Father's/Mother's/Stepparent's) SSN matched, but not Name
*G Taxes paid greater than zero, and greater than or equal to 40% of AGI, but not equal to or greater than AGI (dependent student)
*J Parent 1 (Father/Mother/Stepparent) reported as tax filer, however SSN is all zeroes
*K Parent 2 (Father/Mother/Stepparent) reported as tax filer, however SSN is all zeroes
*N Either first or last name is blank
R Student’s SSN matched, but not Date of Birth
S Parent 1 (Father's/Mother's/Stepparent's) SSN matched, but not Date of Birth
T Parent 2 (Father's/Mother's/Stepparent's) SSN matched, but not Date of Birth
*W Number of family members greater than 15
1 Simplified needs not met and all asset data is blank
2 Incomplete FAFSA
*3 Student’s taxes paid is greater than zero and equal to or greater than AGI
4 Student's marital status date is greater than date completed
5 Date of birth is blank or invalid
6 Parent 1 (Father's/Mother's/Stepparent's) SSN not on Social Security Administration database
7 Parent 2 (Father's/Mother's/Stepparent's) SSN not on Social Security Administration database
8 SSN belongs to someone the Social Security Administration shows as deceased
9 Student is dependent and one of SSN, last name or date of birth is blank for both parents
10 Marital status and number of family members are blank
11 Not married, but two incomes reported (parents/independent student)
*12 Parents taxes paid is greater than zero and equal to or greater than AGI
13 Both first and last name are blank
14 Missing student signature on a paper FAFSA or SAR
15 Missing parent signature on a FAFSA or SAR
16 Missing student signature on Web application
17 Citizenship information blank or NO and no Alien Registration Number provided
18 Student’s SSN not on Social Security Administration database
19 Student on drug abuse hold file
*20 Student reported that he or she will not file a tax return, but income is over minimum amount required for filing a tax return
*21 Student’s marital status date corrected to a date prior to or equal to completion of the correction, but equal to or after completion of the initial application
23 Identity issue
24 NSLDS fraud loan
