How to answer the parent financial questions when parent marital status changed after 2016

The FAFSA asks for your parents' marital status as of the day you fill it out, but it asks for your parents' income and tax return information from 2016. Therefore, your parents' marital status may be different than it was when they filed their tax return(s).
