According to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, no persons are required to respond to a collection of information unless such collection displays a valid OMB control number, which for this form is 1845-0001.

Public reporting burden for this collection of information is estimated to average 50 to 55 minutes for applicants who use FAFSA on the Web to complete and submit the application, an average of 40 to 45 minutes for an applicant who has previously used FAFSA on the Web and completes a renewal FAFSA, and an average of 5 to 10 minutes to make FAFSA corrections; these averages include time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information. The obligation to respond to this collection is voluntary.
